OB/GYN AND PEDIATRICS
Providing Great Care for
Women and Children

To continue meeting the community's growing healthcare needs, Northwest is proud to announce the opening of a second branch of the Women's and Children's Healthcare Center in southeast Amarillo. This new, 5,000-square-foot facility offers obstetric and gynecological services and pediatric care, as well as free patient transportation to and from appointments.

The first Center, at 814 Martin Road in northwest Amarillo, opened in 1999. It originally served about 1,000 patients -- that number has jumped to 35,000 as of last year. Mark Miracle, Director of both Centers, expects the new facility in southeast Amarillo to expand within five years, with a growth rate similar to the first.

Healthcare Closer to Home
"The original Center was too far away for some people," Mr. Miracle says. "We wanted to offer another, closer option for families' healthcare needs."

Children can visit either Center for checkups, immunizations and other preventive care measures. In addition to gynecological care, women can come in for pre-pregnancy checkups, ultrasounds and other prenatal services.

Expanding Children's Minds, Too
Patients can expect more than just great care. To promote early literacy, the Centers provide opportunities for children to learn. At each appointment, books are provided at no cost to children ages 6 months to 5 years through the Reach Out and Read® program.

"We want these books to become part of children's lives," Mr. Miracle says.

The Centers accept Medicare/Medicaid and state health insurance programs. Families also may qualify for other assistance programs. Staff members can help patients apply for these programs at their first appointments.
